Our Beliefs

We are a Christian church and fellowship committed to sharing the love, life and wisdom of God in Sonoma County and beyond.  We are affiliated with the Reformed Church of America, a mainline Protestant denomination.  Our concern is to interpret the Bible and live God's wisdom with humility and enthusiasm as Christ followers.  We share certain common beliefs that were identified by the Early Church as essential to orthodox Christian faith.  Those beliefs can be identified as follows:

We believe in One triune God, who is the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

We also believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to earth as a baby of virgin Mary, grew up to minister to human need according to God's will, and died on a cross under Pontius Pilate in order to save people from their sins.  After three days in a grave, He rose again and ascended into heaven so that all may experience salvation and God's grace by placing our faith in Him.

We also believe in the Holy Spirit of God, who formed order on the earth, inspired the Scriptures, and releases the power of God to accomplish God's will on earth and guide our lives.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice.

We believe that we who are Christians are to live our lives in order to worship God, serve His Kingdom purposes with our time, talent and treasure, and love people as we love ourselves.

We believe that God loves us, has secured an eternal future for those whom He is saving, and that nothing can separate us Christ followers from the love of God.

We believe that God wants us to live by faith in Him, to follow His leadership in our lives, to please Him as our heart's desire, to seek profit for the Lord, and to find our highest pleasure in knowing God personally.

  • Moreover, we also believe in doing the things Jesus called His followers to practice - God's mercy and grace inspire us to: communion, baptism, prayer, giving financially to His work, standing up to evil and injustice, sharing God's good news, meeting regularly with other Christ followers, demonstrating God's love in practical ways, listening for God's voice and wisdom, reading the Scriptures, exercising our spiritual gifts, living in Christian hope of our certain resurrection, discipling the nations, exercising good stewardship of our resources and the planet, being faithful in marriage and singleness, raising children with God's love and wisdom in the context of marriage, and forgiving one another from the heart.

We also believe that God is for us, not against us, and that He means to bless us, prosper us, and provide for us as His people if we live in faith according to His word.
